Cape Fear Advisors, LLC
What personal information capefearadvisors.com and the What the Price Believes subscription collect, why, and who handles it. Effective October 18, 2026.
Cape Fear Advisors, LLC, of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, operates capefearadvisors.com and the What the Price Believes subscription. This policy covers both. The Cape Fear Advisors publication on Substack, and the firm’s accounts on Bluesky, LinkedIn and X, run on those platforms under their own privacy policies.
Contact and inquiry forms. Name, email address, firm, role and the message itself, used to reply and to scope any engagement. The forms are processed by Formspree.
The subscription. Name, email address, an optional company name, and billing details, used to deliver the research, bill the subscription, issue receipts and invoices, and send notices about the service. Payments run through Stripe, which holds the card details; Cape Fear Advisors receives the payment record and the last four digits of the card.
Email. Correspondence sent to the firm, kept to answer it and as a record of the relationship.
Site analytics. The site uses Google Analytics, which sets cookies and records the pages visited, the referring site, approximate location, and device and browser type. Cape Fear Advisors uses the reports in aggregate, to see which work is read. Browser settings can block or delete these cookies, and Google offers a browser add-on that opts out of Google Analytics.
Hosting. The site is served by Cloudflare, which processes each request, including the IP address, to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse.
Personal information is shared only with the service providers named above (Cloudflare, Google, Formspree and Stripe) and the firm’s email provider, each to perform its service, and where the law requires disclosure. Cape Fear Advisors sells personal information to no one, shares it with no one for their own marketing, and runs no advertising on the site.
Correspondence and subscriber records are kept while the relationship lasts and afterward as long as tax, accounting and legal obligations require. Analytics data is kept under the retention setting in Google Analytics. Information no longer needed is deleted.
Anyone may ask to see the personal information the firm holds about him or her, to correct it, or to have it deleted, and may stop subscriber notices at any time. Requests go to [email protected] and are answered within 30 days. Residents of states and countries with privacy laws may hold further rights under those laws; Cape Fear Advisors honors requests from every reader on the same terms. Records the law requires the firm to keep, such as billing records, are retained for the required period.
The site is served over an encrypted connection, payment details stay with Stripe, and access to subscriber and correspondence records is limited to the firm. These measures reduce risk, and the firm will notify affected readers of any breach as the law requires.
The site and the subscription are for professional readers. Any information found to have come from a child under 16 is deleted.
Cape Fear Advisors and its service providers process information in the United States. Readers outside the United States who use the site or subscribe do so with that understanding.
Updates are posted on this page with a new effective date. Subscribers receive notice by email of any material change.
